Alzheimer Can be Detected 25 Years Early
Changes related to Alzheimer's began to look 25 years before the disease is estimated to attack. A latest study claims open the way for early diagnosis and treatment of brain related disorders.
Team of scientists from Washington University School of Medicine studied 128 participants. A total of 50 percent of them have a chance of inheriting the disease.
According to them, the first sign of change is a decrease in spinal fluid levels of the main ingredients of plaque in the brain. Signs that can be detected before the age of 25 years which allows for such a dangerous disease.
Elevated levels of a protein called 'tau' in spinal fluid and the shrinkage of the brain became apparent 15 years before symptoms appear. In ten years, the reduction of the sugar glucose in the brain and memory problems started to clear.
